Local History in the Spotlight

Headwaters History Days, two full weekends of events, exhibits, open houses and activities celebrating the history, culture, folklife and landscape of the Central Catskills, will be held May 30 and 31, and again June 6 and 7.

Visitors are invited to explore 16 historic sites across two counties, through the East Branch and Esopus Watersheds from Andes to Olive.

Museums, landmark structures and historic sites will be open to the public at no charge for one or both days. Docents will be on hand to explain the significance of their sites, and lead walking tours and leisurely rambles. Two lectures will provide food for thought.


DCHA Hosts Opening Day Event May 23 - Revolutionary War Talk & Walk

Memorial Day Weekend marks the summer opening of the historic buildings of the Delaware County Historical Association, including the 1797 Gideon Frisbee House – “The Birthplace of Delaware County.” A special opening day event will take place on Saturday, May 23 at 2:00 pm. 


Pop Up History at Spring on Main

The Historical Society of the Town of Middletown will offer 10-minute history presentations at the Spring on Main event in Margaretville Saturday, May 9.
“Pop Up History,” presented by HSM trustees, will provide quick and entertaining profiles of several venerable buildings and the people who occupied them.


Blue on the Green “Battlefield” Golf Tournament at the College Golf Course in Delhi

The Civil War Association of Central New York’s 144th New York & the Delaware County Historical Association are partnering to raise funds for a Civil War Reenactment to take place this summer. Help suport the program by joining the Blue on the Green “Battlefield” Golf Tournament  on May 22. 


Bi-Annual Historical Society Conference, “Making History in Delaware County,” to be held April 25th

The Delaware County Historical Association has created an afternoon focused on the use of social media, publicity and tourism, and book self-publishing.
